Disney World with an Infant or Toddler?

“What is the perfect age to take your child to Disney?” You will hear all kinds of answers to this question. Some people might say to wait until a child is older and more aware. I personally don’t think there is a “perfect” age to visit Disney World. Each stage of your child’s development will provide a different MAGICAL experience. But should you take an infant or a toddler? Absolutely!

Children under 3 are FREE

One of Disney World’s fantastic policies is children under 3 are free. Though an infant or toddler might not have the memories an older child would they are FREE. We have traveled with three of our children under 3 and I (as the parent) have loved the memories!

Disney IS Baby Friendly

Believe it or not there are so many rides suited for babies and toddlers. The Disney World parks have many “any height” rides and attractions. You will need to face your baby or toddler face forward if they have a lap bar.

Disney has Baby Care Centers in each park. I cannot express how much I love these Baby Care Centers! They are so convenient. They are stocked with all the baby/toddler necessities. Each facility is open during park hours and provide so many amenities.

Baby Care Center Locations

Magic Kingdom- at the end of Main Street in between Casey’s Corner and the Crystal Palace

Epcot-The long Odyssey building heading to the Mexican Pavillion

Animal Kingdom- Next to the Pizzafari in Discovery Island

Hollywood Studios- immediately inside front entrance, in the same building as Guest Relations. (it is the smallest)

Buy the Memory Maker Photo Pass

You will have your hands full! Buy the Photo Pass. This way the memories will be with you forever. My children love looking at our Disney books with our Memory Maker pictures. Memory Maker allows you to tap your MagicBand or Phone every time your picture is taken. This includes ride photos and pictures taken by Cast Members. The photos are so fun! They are then added to your My Disney Experience account and you can download them later.

Rider Switch

Disney wants to make sure everyone has a magical experience. They have found a way for families to do this. It’s called Rider Switch. With Rider Switch, one adult can wait the the non-rider (or riders) while the rest of the party enjoys the attraction. When the other adult returns, they can supervise the non-riding guest without having to wait in the regular line again. AMAZING!

Stay on Disney Property

I know staying on Disney Property might seem like a splurge, but the benefits are priceless. I wrote a blog post on the benefits of staying on Disney Property. There are so many amazing perks. You don’t need to bring carseats with Disney’s internal transportation. You can also return to your resort for nap time. I highly recommend staying on Disney Property. Especially with littles. There are more benefits on the link below.

Relax and Have FUN!

Make sure you don’t over plan your Disney days. Relax and enjoy your vacation! Babies and toddlers can get overstimulated very easily. There will probably be a meltdown or two! Build in some downtime. They need this both physically and mentally. Above all else have fun!

If you are planning a trip with little ones you are in for a real treat. At this age, the characters are real and everything is magical. Your vacation is sure to be pixie dusted.
